MAYA -Modeling Basics



Through creating these I furthered my understanding of using the modelling toolkit in Maya, this exercise because quite easy after the first vase and so I used this project as a way to learn about rendering, Lighting and using materials from The Maya material gallery. 

Through this I learned what each of the values mean in the hyper shader view, and edited them to get the look i wanted. To get this coloured glass effect I changed the sub surface scattering to a green colour and also the refraction colour, so it still had the effect of glass but just with the undertones and colour.

Initially I wanted to go for this neon glass effect, with some vibrant pink and blue lighting to give a throwback 80s’ kinda look (shown this in the render tests below). However fates way- after I finished colouring them Maya crashed, and took be back to the un-lit, uncoloured vases. So I started colouring them again and just couldn’t get this look again, however the look I did end up on for my final render works also.
